The APC

has a clear

Code of

Professional

Conduct

Any person investing in the services of a coaching professional should have the right to expect a service of the highest quality, to be treated with total professionalism and for that professional to act with integrity.  With this in mind, the APC has a clear Code of Professional Conduct.

All members of the Association for Professional Coaching, at all levels, undertake to:

  1. Respect the dignity and worth of every human being, and their right to self-determination regardless of creed, culture, gender, nationality or sexuality
  2. Strive to act with integrity, independence and impartiality at all times
  3. Represent themselves and their qualifications and experience honestly and also (to the best of their knowledge) the skills and experience of any third party to whom they refer any of their customers/clients
  4. In the case of NLP and/or coaching, to only practise within the limits of their competency and certification, to their highest possible standards, updating their skills and knowledge on a continuous basis (CPD)
  5. Represent coaching, or other change-process interventions, as an option and at no time as a certain solution for any given problem
  6. Act as ambassadors for coaching and other change-pattern models so that they are presented as a professional and effective approach which can help people and organisations
  7. Avoid knowingly bringing the APC or any of the professional services it represents into disrepute through any act or omission
  8. Act as ambassadors for the APC, to promote its purposes and activities to a wider audience
  9. Respect legitimate needs and requirements for confidentiality by both clients and fellow members

  12. Ensure that clients/customers expectations, and the basis on which they will be met, are understood by both parties and that contractual arrangements are not changed without appropriate discussion and written confirmation where appropriate

DISCLAIMER: The Code does not assume that individual members possess particular levels of skill in any specific area. It is important, therefore, that prospective users of members’ services satisfy themselves that the person they are working with is appropriately skilled through their own due diligence.

The APC will deal with any infringements of the Code of Ethics through its Complaints and Disciplinary Procedure.
